Welcome my communications projectwebsite!
My name is Laszlo Levente Toth. I appreciate that I can introduce myself to you, and I'll make sure to do so, because I know that if the story about me interests you, which is about my life, then you definitely deserve a decent introduction. There won't be a CV, but there will be a story. I'm working as a journalist, editor, information specialist and publisher, although that is enough. That's why I started university in 2023. I am attending Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, where I'm learning Librarian and Information Science (LIS) and Finnish. I currently live in Turku, Finland (yes, where Mikael Agricola translated the New Testament into Finnish), because from January 1, 2025, I will study as an exchange student (Erasmus +) at both Abo Akademi University and the University of Turku for about six months. What am I learning here? Also LIS and Finnish.
From 2007, when I was a correspondent in Brussels for a while, I attended the University of Brussels (Université Libre de Bruxelles). I studied law at another Hungarian university, and human resources management at a third one. I also completed a male nursing course at the Red Cross. But as a child I thought I wanted to be a sailor, so I went to naval school in the first place. I had a scholarship there, so after school I worked on ships for two more years. Let me not forget, after the ships, I took care of mentally ill people, people who were not sentenced to prison by the court for committing some crime, because they are sick. Of course, their hospital was in a prison. Maybe one day I'll tell you about it. I am interested also in the visual aspect of information because it is very important how well or how quickly we understand a message. An example of this in the world of media is the color red, which is intentionally used on covers. When I launched a ►printed magazine, I also used strong red on the cover, as it is said to be the color that draws people's attention the most. There are many other factors as well, such as images, which can have a life of their own in the media, or more recently, short videos, which are now present even in online written media, not to mention social media. An example of this is my bilingual online agricultural newsletter and ►website, launched in Belgium in 2008.
The world is changing very quickly, and we need to adapt as well. Media is also changing very quickly. It will slowly become difficult even to find out what is authentic information. Not to mention where do we look for it? That's why I decided to document everything in detail, with pictures and text, during the six months in Finland. Its activity is the ►FINNISH PROJECT, which you can find in the top menu bar in ►DIARY. Good reading!
